The County Group welcomes back charity champ Nathan
CHARITY champion Nathan Walton has been reunited with colleagues at The County Group after a year away raising money for a cause close to his heart.
The father-of-three has raised more than £100,000 for the Donna Louise Children’s Hospice at Trentham with various challenges since his first visit to the facility 15 years ago.
Nathan, 50, who hails from Trent Vale, was one of the founders of JSW Insurance in Newcastle in 2003.
The business merged with The County Group in 2013 but he continued to head up the JSW brand as an insurance specialist to the corporate sector.
His new role is Business Development Manager working across the County’s regional offices to retain and attract clients.
He said: “I decided to take a sabbatical and devote my time to supporting the hospice. I visited 15 years ago when we were looking for a charity to support. From that day onwards I was inspired by the incredible work that goes on there.
“It’s been quite a journey and I’ve done some amazing things to raise money both alone and with my friends. As a group I’m proud to say we have raised £900,000.”
Nathan, now on the board of trustees at the hospice, was part of a team which took part in the gruelling Tower to Tower 2018 challenge in May.
In just four days they cycled from Paris to Le Havre from where they rowed to Brighton and then completed a final leg walking to London.
He’s also completed the Three Peaks Challenge and six London Marathons.
County Group CEO Dave Clapp said: “I am delighted to have Nathan back on the team. He spent 15 years growing JSW to a leading force in the Stoke area as a great regional broker. His knowledge of the local market is second to none and his expertise in the sector with over 30 plus years’ experience will help us win new and retain existing clients.”
He added: “Nathan has also worked tirelessly for the Donna Louise Trust. This is voluntary work and Nathan should be commended for his commitment to this cause.”
The County Group is a long-standing member of the Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce and Nathan is looking forward to networking with the local business community.
